Sufi Mystics (like Monks in the Christian tradition) say that before you speak, words must pass through 3 doors.  The first door is marked TRUTH.  So you ask in silence, “Are these words true?” If they are not, the words are left litting outside the door.  The second door is marked NECESSITY. So you ask in silence, “Are these words necessary?” If they are necessary, they’re left to wait outside the door until they are needed.  The third door is labelled KIND.  Are these words kind, compassionate, loving?
